China’s steel exports rise by 11.6 percent in January-May

According to the latest figures issued by the Chinese customs authorities, in May this year China's steel exports amounted to 4.76 million mt, down 3.64 percent year on year and down 10,000 mt compared to April. Meanwhile, in the first five months of the current year, China's total steel exports rose by 11.6 percent year on year to 20.04 million mt.

In May, China's steel imports totaled 1.28 million mt, decreasing by 90,000 mt month on month and down 5.88 percent year on year. In the period from January to May, Chinese aggregate steel imports came to 6.83 million mt, down 1.9 percent compared to the same period of 2010.
