China’s steel export and import volumes decline in June

China's export and import volumes of steel products declined in June this year on year-on-year basis, while iron ore imports decreased in volume, according to the Chinese customs authorities.
 
China's steel product exports totaled 4.29 million mt in June, down 470,000 mt as compared to May and down 24 percent year on year. China's total steel product exports in H1 amounted to 24.33 million mt, up 3.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
 
Meanwhile, China's steel product imports came to 1.2 million mt in June, decreasing by 80,000 mt from May and down 18.4 percent year on year. China's total steel product imports in H1 amounted to 8.03 million mt, down 4.8 percent year on year.
 
In H1 China's had no semi-finished steel shipments to foreign countries, while its imports of semi-finished steel reached 30,000 mt in June and 280,000 mt in H1.
 
Chinese coke exports totaled 320,000 mt in June, down 130,000 mt from May. Coke exports in H1 amounted to 2.45 million mt, increasing by 75.2 percent year on year.
 
Finally, China's imports of iron ore amounted to 51.09 million mt in June, down 2.21 million mt as compared to May but up 8.3 percent year on year. Chinese imports of iron ore in H1 amounted to 334.25 million mt, increasing by 8.1 percent year on year.
