Chilean long steel producer CAP Acero, from CAP Group, plans to appeal a government decision to not investigate antidumping (AD) practices on the imports of certain steel bars, as previously reported by SteelOrbis.

In late January, the Chilean price distortion commission (CNDP) denied CAP Acero’s request to investigate antidumping (AD) for imports of steel bars used to produce steel grinding balls. The product falls under Chilean HTS code 7228.3000, with a diameter inferior to 4 inches. CNDP said at the time CAP Acero failed to provide enough data to indicate the regular price at which the product was imported.

A media report this week by Diario Concepcion said CAP Acero will hire an international consulting company to help it appeal the decision.
