British construction orders down 6.3 percent in Q1 from Q4

In April this year, the output volume of Great Britain's construction industry increased by 4.6 percent year on year and rose by 1.2 percent compared to March, according to a report released by the UK-based Office for National Statistics (ONS). In the given month, new works in the British construction industry increased by 4.9 percent year on year and by 0.9 percent month on month, while repair and maintenance work grew by 4.2 percent year on year and by 1.6 percent month on month.
 
On the other hand, in the first quarter this year Great Britain's new orders for construction decreased by 6.3 percent compared to the last quarter of 2013. In the given period, orders for public new housing decreased by 45.7 percent, while orders for infrastructure declined by 16.5 percent, both compared to the previous quarter.
