Brazil’s iron ore exports up 21.33 percent in Q1 2010

According to the statistics provided by Brazil's National Union of the Industry of Extraction of Iron and Base Metals (Sinferbase), the country's iron ore exports in March this year amounted to 21.04 million metric tons, increasing by 0.11 percent year on year.
 
In March, iron ore exports of the world's largest iron ore exporter Vale accounted for 89.22 percent of the country's total iron ore exports, amounting to 18.77 million metric tons, down 2.32 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, Brazil's iron ore exports in the first quarter of 2010 rose by 21.33 percent year on year, reaching 62.61 million metric tons.
 
Vale's share in Brazil's total iron ore exports in the January-March period reached 89.88 percent and amounted to 56.27 million metric tons, soaring by 15.75 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
