Vale's iron ore exports down 11 percent in January-April

In April this year, Brazilian miner Vale's iron ore export volume totaled 18.94 million mt, up 19.57 percent compared to March and increasing by 45.2 percent compared to April 2019, according to Brazil's National Union of the Industry of Extraction of Iron and Base Metals (Sinferbase). In the January-April period of the current year, Vale's iron ore exports decreased by 11 percent year on year to 70.67 million metric tons.

Meanwhile, in April this year Vale's iron ore sales in its domestic market amounted to 1.06 million mt, decreasing by 29.8 percent year on year and down by 24.3 percent month on month. In the January-April period of this year, Vale's iron ore sales in its domestic market totaled 5.14 million mt, decreasing by 2.46 percent as compared with the same period last year.
