Kosciusko, Mississippi-based Attala Steel Industries opened its new steel galvanizing facility Tuesday, a $5 million project that is expected to create 20 jobs in the area. The facility is a 30,000-square-foot addition to the company's existing operation that manufactures and fabricates steel I beams that are used in utility-scale solar installations in the US and abroad.

"Attala Steel's expansion is another great sign that the economy in Mississippi is getting stronger," Brent Christensen, executive director of the Mississippi Development Authority, said in a statement.

The authority and the state of Mississippi provided infrastructure improvements for the project.
