Argentina’s crude steel production continues downtrend in March

Argentina’s crude steel production in March declined 8.9 percent, year-on-year, to 429,800 mt from 471,800 mt in the same period of the previous year, according to a report this week from the nation’s steel chamber, CAA.

Following the same downtrend seen in the first two months of the year, Argentina’s 1.19 million mt crude steel production in Q1 was 4.5 percent lower compared to the 1.24 million mt produced in Q1 2014, CAA said.

Hot rolled finished production fell 12.6 percent in the third month of 2015 year-on-year, but increased 16.9 percent month-on-month, reaching 395,800 mt.

According to CAA, cold rolled flat steel production in March increased 17.3 percent month-on-month, and 10.1 percent year-on-year to 134,900 mt.
