Oak Brook Illinois-based clean energy recycling company Primary Energy Recycling Corporation announced Tuesday that it will be upgrading the capacity of its East Chicago, Indiana-based North Lake Energy facility by 20 percent due to the signing of an interim agreement with ArcelorMittal.

The North Lake Energy project, which recycles blast furnace gas into electricity, supplies a portion of ArcelorMittal's Indiana Harbor East mill with electricity recycled from blast furnace gas. The project currently has a 75 megawatt capacity, and plans to expand to 90 megawatts with a two-phase plan. With ArcelorMittal's agreement to reimburse the company for Phase I, the upgrade can now get underway.
