AK Steel announced Monday it will increase prices for its stainless steel products by 6 percent, effective with shipments starting July 2, 2006. The price hike, accomplished by a 2 percent reduction in the functional discount rate, will apply to hot and cold rolled stainless steel sheet and strip, tubular quality products, and continuous mill plate products. The company's stainless product surcharges, announced in May, will remain in effect.
