Aline Ferreira, commercial and financial director of the Brazilian longs producer Aço Cearense, was quoted by the local press as saying that the viability study for a new plant, to be built in association of the iron ore miner Vale, is about to be concluded.

According to Ferreira, the new plant would produce long products, next to the Sinobras plant in Marabá, in the northern state of Pará.

Controlled by Aço Cearense, Sinobras will have its rolling capacity increased from today’s 380,000 to 880,000 mt per year, with billets ultimately produced via the Tecnored technology.
