7.795 million mt of Chinese steelmaking capacity to be closed by Sept

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has issued a list for elimination of backward or dated production capacities in 19 industrial sectors, including the iron-making, steelmaking, coke, ferroalloy and zinc smelting sectors, with the capacities in question to be shut down by the end of September this year.
 
The capacities to be eliminated include 7,795,000 mt of annual steel production capacity affecting 22 steel producers, 10,556,000 mt of iron-making production capacity affecting 27 producers, and 19,510,000 mt of annual coke output capacity among 77 coking enterprises.
