India’s RINL to increase blast furnace capacity at Vizag Steel

Austria-based plantmaker Siemens Metals Technologies has announced that it has received an order from India's state-owned Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd. (RINL) to thoroughly modernize the blast furnace No. 2 at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (Vizag Steel), increasing production capacity to 7,150 mt per day and 2.5 million mt per year.
 
The order value for Siemens amounts to around €50 million. The capital repair of the blast furnace No. 2 is to be completed in the third quarter of 2015. Modernization of the blast furnace is part of an expansion project which is intended to boost annual pig iron production to 7.3 million mt.
