Canada, Ontario-based ArcelorMittal Dofasco has decided to shut down its 62-year-old coke plant No. 1 in March 2015, since production does not cover maintenance costs, according to media reports. The shutdown will affect 100 people but the company believes that the workers could be relocated and there will be no job losses.

ArcelorMittal Dofasco will continue to operate its coke-making facilities Nos. 2 and 3, which are 43 and 34 years old respectively. The company is reportedly planning to hire about 1,500 people over the next three to five years amid expected retirements.
