Welded pipe demand still fails to impress in Iran

Demand for welded pipes in the Iranian market has remained slack. However, Iranian pipe producers have managed to keep their quotations stable in the local currency, while prices in US dollar terms have surged by around $80-85/mt over the past month in line with the exchange rate trend. Market players believe welded pipe prices in Iran will not decline in the coming period amid rising feedstock costs and exchange rate fluctuations.

Iranian producers' current domestic prices for 6"-14" welded pipes with 2 mm wall thickness of grade B made to ASTM/API are at $800-840/mt (IRR 21,000-22,000/mt) ex-works. Prices are exclusive of five percent VAT.

Chinese welded pipes, 2"-8" grade B made to ASTM A53/API 5L, are currently being offered to the Iranian market at $650-680/mt CFR, $20/mt lower compared to one month ago.
