US line pipe markets continue to tread water

Prices for both US domestic and import API X-42 electric resistance welded (ERW) line pipe have once again held neutral in the past seven days, with futures prices from Taiwan and Vietnam still being offered in the approximate range of $38.50-$39.50 cwt. ($849-$871/mt or $770-$790/nt) DDP loaded truck US Gulf coast while domestic offers have remained at $51.00-$52.00 cwt. ($1,124-$1,146/mt or $1,020-$1,040/nt) ex-Midwest mill.

Sources close to SteelOrbis say the market (namely order activity and inquiries) is sailing straight ahead, and while activity remains stable, it’s certainly nothing to write home about.  At this point, it would seem that most people are waiting for the International Trade Commission (ITC) to announce the final determinations in the oil country tubular goods (OCTG) casing next month, as hefty margins against offshore producers could bode well for those who are pushing to have a line pipe case filed next.
