Movers and shakers within the
US domestic and import API X-42 electric resistance welded (ERW) line pipe markets have reported a slow start to the week, as many in the industry have taken extra days off to extend their upcoming Fouth of July holiday vacation. Prices within the domestic market have remained neutral, still at $51.00-$52.00 cwt. ($1,124-$1,146/mt or $1,020-$1,040/nt) ex-Midwest mill, while futures prices from Vietnam and Taiwan are also sideways, still coming in at approximately $38.50-$39.50 cwt. ($849-$871/mt or $770-$790/nt) DDP loaded truck
US Gulf coast ports. Futures prices from Korea are coming in slightly higher, at approximately $39.50-$40.50 cwt. ($871$893/mt- or $790-$810/nt), DDP loaded truck
US Gulf coast ports, although deals slightly below that range are available.
In terms of currently arriving material, July 1 data released by the Steel Monitoring Import and Analysis (SIMA) shows
US line pipe import tonnages from Korea for last month had reached 64,989 mt (license data) whereas import tonnages from the second largest importer, Turkey had reached 11,186 mt (license data). For the month of May, import tonnages from Korea and Turkey have been tallied at 85,342 mt and 9,245 mt, respectively.
