US HSS prices still steady, but showing weakness

Sources close to SteelOrbis have indicated that spot market prices for US domestic HSS tubing are still being heard at approximately $79 cwt. ($1,742/mt or $1,580/nt), FOB mill. At the same time, sources have indicated that some mills have been increasingly willing to negotiate on price.

“I think a lot of people expected tube mills would roll out a price increase last week when the flats mills announced, but that hasn’t happened,” a source said. “I think at this point prices are more likely to go down than they are to go up.”
