Many within the US domestic pipe and tube markets have endured quite the wild ride since the start of the year due to extreme market volatility, but the same can’t be said for US domestic Grade A-53 ERW black plain end (BPE) standard pipe.  According to sources, few if any changes have emerged in the past 30 days, and nothing of note is on the horizon.

Pricing is sideways across the board; the he average US domestic spot price range is still trending at approximately $42.50-$43.50 cwt. ($937-$959/mt or $850-$870/nt), ex-Midwest mill, while futures offer prices from Korea, Turkey and Vietnam are also trending lateral at $33.00-$35.00 cwt. ($728-$772/mt or $660-$700/nt), DDP loaded truck US Gulf Coast ports. Anyone who is looking to book significant tons, however will likely have the upper hand at the negotiation table.
