Local Chinese steel pipe prices stable or up slightly

 Local Chinese steel pipe prices have moved sideways or up slightly during the past week.

Local Chinese seamless pipe prices have continued their stable trend during the past week. Overall trading activity has been at normal levels. Prices of billet and other raw materials have moved up a little lately, providing some support for seamless pipe prices. However, since the off-season is coming, most traders have chosen to keep their prices stable in order to close more deals and reduce their stocks. As for the week ahead, considering demand may weaken while support from the cost side still exists, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may continue a mostly stable trend.

Chinese domestic welded pipe prices have followed a slightly upward trend during the past week, supported by rises in steel strip prices. Overall trading activity has been at normal levels, Meanwhile, supply volumes of welded pipes have continued to decline lately, which also provides support for welded pipe prices. As for the week ahead, the off-season may start to influence the demand side, while it is believed that welded pipe prices may indicate some minor fluctuations.
