Local Chinese steel pipe prices mostly stable

Local Chinese steel pipe prices have showed a mostly stable trend during the past week.

Chinese domestic seamless pipe prices have followed a stable trend during the past week. Overall trading activity has been weak due to the off-season and floods. Upstream billet prices have fluctuated, with some softening. Traders have mostly kept their seamless pipe prices stable and are willing to offer certain discounts in order to close more deals. As for the week ahead, amid low demand and weaker support from the cost side, it is believed that domestic seamless pipe prices may move sideways or soften slightly.

Local Chinese welded pipe prices have showed a mostly stable trend in the past week, with some slight downticks also seen. Overall trading activity has remained weak. Upstream steel strip prices have softened, cause some welded pipe traders to follow suit, though most traders have kept their prices stable in line with the unchanged prices of producers. As for the week ahead, it is believed that welded pipe prices may soften slightly.
