Italian welded pipe prices have continued to trend down. Domestic and export prices of Italian welded pipes have lost around €10-20/mt ($20-33/mt) over the past month amid a lack of demand and lower flat steel quotations. Offers of Turkish and Bulgarian pipes for Italy have also declined by a maximum of €20/mt ($32-33/mt) over the period under review. However, Italian buyers continue to keep stocks at low levels amid slow demand from consuming industries, closing deals only when necessary. Italian buyers remain very cautious and are reluctant make any new bookings, waiting to learn the discount rates of domestic producer Marcegaglia and to see the price policy of other Italian producers of welded pipes.
Current local prices for Italian welded pipes of 2"-6" size with wall thickness of 2.0-4.0 mm as per EN 10219 made from base steel grade S235JR HR coils are at about €530-550/mt ($688-714/mt) ex-works. Prices are shown on actual weight basis and excluding 21 percent VAT. Domestic prices for standard-size precision welded tubes, E235 grade as per EN 10305-3, are at about €650-660/mt ($844-857/mt) ex-works. Quotations of galvanized welded pipes from Italian producers are in the range of €650-670/mt ($844-870/mt) ex-works.
Export quotations of Italian 2"-6" welded pipes as per EN 10219 are at about €560-580/mt ($727-753/mt) FOB (transportation by sea) or €530-560/mt ($688-727/mt) ex-works (transportation overland). In particular, offer prices for Spain are in the range of €560-600/mt ($727-779/mt) CPT.
Offers from Turkish suppliers of industrial welded pipes with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from HR coils are being given at an average of €530-560/mt ($688-727/mt) CFR to Italy and at €550-580/mt ($714-753/mt) CFR to Spain.
Offers of Bulgarian welded pipes to the Spanish market are standing at an average of €560-600/mt ($727-779/mt) CPT on theoretical weight basis.
