The lack of buying activity in key export markets is putting downward pressure on export prices of seamless pipe suppliers from Russia and Ukraine. Over the past month, Ukrainian seamless pipe exporter Interpipe has decreased its offers by $20-50/mt, while export offers from Ukraine's Dnepropetrovsk Tube Works have declined by $10/mt. Russian suppliers have cut their quotations for foreign buyers by $20-30/mt over the period under review. In the coming month, the situation in the export markets is not expected to improve, while overseas buyers are unlikely to noticeably increase their purchases. Market players believe the current weak trend in the seamless pipe segment may persist, considering the weakness of demand and lower feedstock prices.
Export prices from Ukrainian mill Interpipe for November production hot-formed seamless pipes of 42-168 mm diameter, of 10, 20 steel grades, as per GOST 8731/8732, currently vary in the range of $760-850/mt FOB, while seamless pipes made to ASTM A106 are quoted at around $780-1,000/mt FOB.
Export offers of 2"-6" pipes of grade B as per API 5L are at levels of $800-1,020/mt FOB, while 8"-10" pipes are at $830-1,050/mt FOB.
