Atlas Tube, a division of the JMC Steel Group, sent a letter to customers last week indicating that prices on hollow structural sections (HSS) products effective with all new orders received after 5:00 p.m. September 22, 2011, will increase by $2.00 cwt. ($44/mt or $40/nt).

The increase applies to all HSS shapes up through 12 sq (Square and Equivalent Rectangles) and all HSS rounds up through 20" OD.

All orders currently on Atlas' books will be price protected for shipments through October 22, 2011. This increase will apply to all unconfirmed quotes and contracts.

Structural and mechanical tubing manufacturer Leavitt Tube made a similar announcement, telling customers that effective with new orders received on or after Friday, September 23, 2011, the company will increase prices by a minimum of $2.00 cwt. ($44/mt or $40/nt), due to increased raw material costs. The increase applies to all products and size ranges.

All orders placed and confirmed prior to this increase date will be price protected with shipments through Friday, October 21, 2011.
