On April 19, SteelOrbis reported prices of standard grade (75 percent silicon) ferrosilicon as trending sideways at $1,653-1,741/mt in-warehouse Pittsburgh over the course of the prior two weeks.

According to sources, spot prices for ferrosilicon have increased to $1,697-1,763/mt in-warehouse Pittsburgh. The price reflects an increase of $44/mt from the bottom of the previous range and $22/mt from the top of the previous range.

While transaction volumes are limited, sources note tight supply and high replacement costs plus limited availability from their international sources for import. According to a source, prices are expected to remain in the stated range, which resemble early April prices, and are expected to increase in early June 2017 for third quarter negotiations.
