On April 4, SteelOrbis reported ferrosilicon prices in the US domestic market were heard at $1,697-$1,763/mt in-warehouse Pittsburgh.
Standard, 75 percent silicon grade ferrosilicon prices in the US domestic spot market are presently at $1,653-$1,741/mt in-warehouse Pittsburgh. This price range reflects a decrease of $44/mt from the bottom of the previous range and $22/mt from the top of the previous range. Mill demand during the week ending April 7 reportedly slowed down as the majority of second quarter contracts were finalized.
According to a source, while prices on ferrosilicon in Europe and China gained some strength into the end of March, during the first week in April, ferrosilicon deals were completed on the lower side of their respective active ranges. Despite the temporary dip in domestic and international prices, prices of ferrosilicon in the US domestic market are expected to return to a level above $1,760/mt in-warehouse Pittsburgh in the near future.
