Turkish steel producers have lately concluded several deep sea scrap deals, while ex-Black Sea scrap bookings for small tonnages have been rare. In the import scrap market in Turkey, ex-Black Sea scrap offers for HMS I/II 80:20 scrap are currently at $200/mt CFR Marmara. In this context, some steel producers in the Marmara region have concluded ex-Russia and ex-Ukraine deals for HMS I/II 80:20 scrap at levels of $198/mt CFR and $200/mt CFR. Meanwhile, Turkish producers’ firm bids for ex-Romania HMS I/II 80:20 scrap are at $195/mt CFR Marmara.
On the other hand, many steel producers in the Marmara region, having concluded deep sea scrap bookings for HMS I/II 80:20 scrap at $198-201/mt CFR, are not very likely to conclude ex-Black Sea scrap deals or they are likely to make lower firm bids for Black Sea scrap, since deep sea prices are at the same levels as ex-Black Sea prices. Also, ex-Black Sea offers for HMS I/II 80:20 are at $203-205/mt CFR Aegean region, which is also higher than deep sea quotations. As a result, no ex-Black Sea scrap bookings have been heard in Turkey’s Aegean region.
