Turkish domestic scrap market also moves up

Friday, 10 November 2023 17:49:59 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

As anticipated towards the end of last week, Turkish mills have increased their domestic scrap prices this week as they have been focusing on domestic scrap tonnages given the rises recorded in the deep sea and short sea scrap segments. The local steel producers have increased their domestic scrap purchase prices by TRY 200-700/mt or $6-23/mt week on week. The upward movement of the local Turkish scrap market may continue in the coming weeks, depending on the firmness of deep sea scrap prices.

While the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved up from TRY 9,000-10,150/mt to TRY 9,300-10,650/mt, dollar-based quotations have declined from $317-357/mt to $329-373/mt.
