Turkey’s ship scrap prices start to move up

Two Izmir-based Turkish producers have increased their ship scrap procurement prices by $2-3/mt since last Friday, while others have kept their prices stable. The general range is now at $350-360/mt, compared to the previous range of $350-357/mt for delivery to mill by truck. A further uptrend in ship scrap prices seems possible since Turkey’s deep sea scrap prices have rebounded sharply.

In Turkey’s Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:

Price ($/mt)

Habaş

360

All the above prices are for delivery to mill by truck.
