Strong scrap demand in local Greek market

Thursday, 12 March 2015 17:27:34 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul
According to market sources, prices in the local Greek scrap market have this week been at €250/mt delivered, while domestic scrap demand is at decent levels. Meanwhile, Greek scrap suppliers prefer to focus on sales in their domestic market instead of on exports, since Greek steel producers pay higher prices for scrap than foreign buyers. However, with the US dollar maintaining its strength against the euro, Greek scrap suppliers may turn to the export markets with competitive prices if scrap demand weakens in their domestic market.
