In the Indian domestic market, local producers appear to be focusing their attention on local sales for basic pig iron given the stable demand in the domestic market. With Indian producers' export offers standing at high levels and no improvement observed in terms of demand, it is unlikely that Indian producers will announce any tender till the end of this month. Local sales prices of basic pig iron (BPI) in India are currently at the level of INR 17,000-18,000/mt ($330-348/mt) ex-works, while the price for foundry pig iron is at INR 19,000-20,000/mt ($369-388/mt) ex-works - both excluding excise duty of 8.24 percent and four percent VAT.
