During the week ending July 11, average steel scrap prices in the Chinese market have mostly increased, though prices in some regions have remained unchanged or softened slightly, while transaction activity in the overall market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average scrap prices in China’s main markets are presented in the following table.
During the given week, scrap prices have increased in most regions of the country, especially in eastern and northern China. By the end of the week, semi-finished steel prices indicated slight decreases in some regions of the country, exerting a negative impact on scrap prices. It is thought that scrap prices in the Chinese domestic market will move sideways in the coming week.
