During the week ending July 18, average scrap prices in the local Chinese market have mostly remained stable, though prices in some regions have seen rises, while transaction activity in the overall market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average scrap prices in China’s main markets are presented in the table below.

During the given week, demand for scrap from downstream users has been quiet as high temperature prevails in China. Finished steel prices have seen a rising trend and have supported scrap prices. It is thought that scrap prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move on a stable trend in the coming week.
