Local Italian scrap prices mostly remains stable in the past week, apart from a slight softening of prices of lower quality scrap. Market sources say that lower quality scrap prices (shredded and turnings) moved down by €5/mt on the upper end compared to the previous week. At the same time, the situation looks normal in terms of scrap demand, even though local steel producers have reduced their production in the past few weeks. According to sources, Italian scrap prices may gain strength only if rebar exports to Algeria resumes.
