Compared to seven days ago, domestic scrap prices in Italy have on average increased by a slight margin of €5/mt. According to market sources, this is the result of the minor increases seen in the prices of high quality scrap, which in turn have dragged the prices of lower quality scrap with them. Meanwhile, rumors are already circulating about a possible increase in scrap prices in July in several European countries, including Italy. This could be the result of the recent increase in import scrap prices in Turkey and also of the good demand for scrap in Europe, especially for high quality scrap.
Exports of long steel products to Algeria are still blocked due to the non-release of import licenses in the North African country. Nevertheless, Italian long steel producers have completed plenty of bookings thanks to sales concluded to other European countries, especially Germany, and to non-EU countries other than Algeria.
