In reaction to increased iron ore prices in the Chinese spot market, coupled to a small reduction in international ocean freight charges, iron ore for spot exports in Brazil have increased in average by $3/mt to $4/mt from last week.

Sinter feed fines of 65 percent iron contents are traded for export at $46/mt, lumps at $51/mt and pellets at $80/mt, FOB conditions.

In the domestic market, the prices are $41/mt for sinter feed fines, $46/mt for lumps and $77/mt for pellets, ex-works, no taxes included.

Brazilian exports of iron ore (pellets excluded) in September were stable from August at 32.6 million mt , while the country’s exports of pellets increased in the period by 20.5 percent to 2.7 million mt.
