According to market sources, Russian A3 grade
scrap offers to
Turkey have increased by $5-10/mt over the past two weeks and have settled at $305-310/mt CFR, while Romanian and Ukrainian A3 grade
scrap offers to the same destination are currently in the range of $300-310/mt CFR.
The increases recorded in deep sea
scrap prices have caused Black Sea
scrap suppliers to revise their prices upwards. The approaching cold winter weather, the disruption of shipments amid decreasing water levels of the rivers used for transportation and tightness in availability are the reasons for the price increases in question. Additionally,
scrap prices in the local Russian market are at RUB 11,500/mt ($210/mt) delivered, while
scrap collection costs have increased by RUB 200/mt ($4/mt) over the past week to RUB 10,700/mt ($196/mt). Market sources state that, with the Russian ruble loosing strength against the US dollar,
scrap collection costs have been revised upwards.
