According to the latest figures provided by German steel scrap recycler association (BDSV), in September domestic steel scrap prices in Germany recorded marginal increases of €1-5/mt ($1-7/mt). After this slight increase, scrap prices in Germany have increased by €20/mt ($26/mt) since August.
The year on year comparison reveals that the price gap between maximum and minimum prices has decreased from €84.7/mt ($109/mt) to €57.3/mt ($74/mt), as the prices of low-priced qualities decreased marginally (turnings E5 were down 1.58 percent, old steel scrap E1 was down 2.6 percent), while premium scrap qualities went down more substantially (new steel scrap cat. E2/E8 has lost some €34/mt ($44/mt) or 10,6 percent compared to September 2011).
