Ex-US scrap prices in Taiwan trend up

According to sources close to SteelOrbis, a Taiwanese mill has booked containerized HMS I/II 80:20 at $255/mt CFR.

Ex-US offers for HMS I/II 80:20 scrap are presently at $258-264/mt CFR Taiwan for containerized shipments and $285-295/mt CFR Taiwan for bulk shipments. Source notes that remaining bulk scrap offers below $290/mt CFR to Asia are limited and expected to disappear soon.

For containerized HMS I/II 80:20 scrap, SteelOrbis has reported ex-US offers from various sources at $253-260/mt CFR Taiwan through the past several weeks. With the latest scrap deal, containerized offers have increased $4-5/mt. Additionally, a source noted that bulk scrap offer prices which traditionally trend approximately $20/mt above containerized prices are presently trending with a wider spread closer to $30/mt.
