The combined exports of iron ore and pellets by Brazil have reached 29.55 million metric tons in June, 3.7 percent less than in May. Exports of pellets reduced by 25 percent to 3.20 million mt, while exports of iron ore were stable at 26.35 million mt, according to the country’s ministry of development, industry and foreign trade.
Meanwhile, the average FOB export price of iron ore decreased by 5.6 percent in June to $73/mt, while for pellets the price went down by 5.7 percent to $122/mt.
The main destinations of the iron ore were Asia (20.16 million mt, of which 14.97 million mt went to China), Europe (3.44 million mt), the Middle East (1.34 million mt) and South America (1.26 million mt).
Top destinations of pellets were the European Union (1.10 million mt), Asia (1.06 million mt), Africa (372,000 mt) and South America (321,000 mt), while smaller tonnages were shipped to the Middle East and the Caribbean (172,000 mt each).
