Wire rod prices move downward in Bulgaria

In the Bulgarian domestic long steel market, producers' mesh and drawing quality wire rod prices have decreased by BGN 20/mt ($13/mt) as compared to the start of the current week, and are now currently at BGN 1,010-1,020/mt ($678-685/mt) CPT on actual weight basis, and exclusive of 20 percent VAT.

Furthermore, since the Danube Bridge which connects Bulgaria to Romania recently closed to traffic amid the cold weather and snow, transactions and transportation of goods have slowed down and so no transaction has been concluded during the week between these two countries.

Demand remain lackluster in the Bulgarian domestic market due to the bad weather conditions, but once the weather gets warmer in the coming period the Bulgarian domestic market is expected to be more active.
