SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that local producers’ price levels in the Turkish domestic market for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:

Region

Price ($/mt)

Marmara

451-458

Thrace

435-441

Izmir

428-438

Iskenderun

430-435

The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, do not include VAT and are on ex-works basis. The offers may differ depending on buyers and order sizes.

According to market sources, domestic producers’ wire rod prices in the local Turkish market have decreased by $12-27/mt week on week to $428-458/mt ex-works. The downward price revision by Turkish steel producers has mostly been due to the strengthening of the Turkish lira to 2.63 against the US dollar. Also, demand for wire rod is very slack in Turkish market due to Ramadan, while buyers prefer to postpone their purchases until after the end-of-Ramadan holiday, which also contributes to the downtrend of wire rod prices. Meanwhile, Turkish buyers are cautious about concluding new wire rod deals due to the lack of a clear market outlook amid the sharp decreases in import scrap prices since the beginning of June.
