According to market sources, ex-CIS billet offers to Turkey have remained unchanged over the past week at $290-295/mt CFR, for December shipment. Turkish producers stepped up their inquiries for billet in the middle of last week, following the import scrap deals heard in the Turkish market. Despite the increases seen in inquiries for Chinese billet, Turkish buyers have showed little interest in billet offers from the CIS and no new ex-CIS billet deal has been heard this week in the Turkish market. On the other hand, demand for ex-CIS billet has been livelier in Egypt and in some Middle Eastern countries. As a result, CIS-based sellers have been focusing on these countries instead of Turkey. Meanwhile, Chinese billet offers to Turkey are mostly in the range of $260-270/mt CFR, though some Chinese billet suppliers' offers are at $255-260/mt CFR for longer delivery times.
