Turkish wire rod export prices supported by cost-side increases

During the past week, demand for Turkish wire rod in the export markets has remained stable at low levels. The upward movement of scrap and billet prices which started at the beginning of October has continued to be observed in the current week, leading Turkish producers to raise their wire rod export quotations by an average of $12.5/mt week on week to $410-430/mt FOB.

However, buyers consider the new prices to be unattractive and Turkish producers' new export offers have failed to gain acceptance from the buyers.
