Turkish rebar exporters struggle under negative conditions

As market sources have informed SteelOrbis, Turkey's rebar export offers have followed a sideways trend since last week at $560-575/mt FOB on actual weight basis. Meanwhile, Turkey's rebar offers to North Africa can be found at $620/mt CFR on theoretical weight basis, while only a few deals have been concluded to the region, though for small volumes. In addition, demand for Turkish rebar in the Middle East has remained on the weak side. This week no transaction has been concluded to the Middle East, while ex-Turkey rebar transaction prices to Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Yemen had last week declined to the level of $560/mt CFR on actual weight basis.

Given the low demand on the export side and scrap price declines of $10-15/mt week on week, the sideways trend of Turkish mills' rebar export offers is considered to be a positive development in the current market conditions.

Weekly price movements of different steel products in major markets can be viewed comparatively in the SteelOrbis Historical Steel Prices section. Market trends can thus be seen more clearly, while desired charts can be created and used in reports or presentations.
