Turkish official merchant bar export prices trend up

Over the past two weeks, a few Turkish merchant bar re-rollers have increased their offers by $20/mt on the lower end, however, international demand is still sluggish. Currently, ex-Turkey official equal angle offers are standing at $620-640/mt FOB for late August-September shipment.  

The SteelOrbis Turkish billet daily export reference price stands at $460-475/mt CFR, versus $465-485/mt CFR over the same period. The North African market remains silent, while Latin America and the Balkan market seem relatively livelier on the demand side. Following the slight upward movement in import scrap prices, a few merchant bar re-rollers are attempting to hike their offers and slightly higher levels are expected for next week.
