Over the past two weeks, Turkish official domestic merchant bar prices have risen by TRY 150-300/mt with minor changes on US dollar basis, while merchant bar prices in the Izmir and Denizli regions have remained stable in the local currency, while down by $6/mt on US dollar basis amid the ongoing currency fluctuations. In addition, one Iskenderun-based mill has set its equal angle price at TRY 20,000-20,300/mt ($659-669/mt) ex-works this week, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 30.36.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering either for late February-March delivery or from stocks. A few re-rollers are also offering their HEA/HEB (550-700 mm, standard) at TRY 25,500/mt ($840/mt) for delivery to the Karabuk region. The general sentiment on the demand side is negative due to adverse weather conditions.
