Over the past week, Turkish mills have raised their wire rod prices in line with their rebar prices amid costlier scrap.
An Iskenderun-based mill has issued its official wire rod price today, November 16, at $610/mt ex-works. The mill has stopped quoting in the local currency for now amid the ongoing currency fluctuations.
"Most mills are focused on increasing their wire rod prices sharply after Turkey launched a safeguard measure investigation on wire rod imports earlier this month. However, most buyers are maintaining a wait-and-see stance as they want to see if the upward trend of import scrap prices will continue," one source commented.
Kardemir issued its 6-27 mm wire rod of SAE 1008-1010 grade price at $595/mt ex-works yesterday. However, this price seems somewhat difficult to achieve under the current market conditions," one source mentioned.
