Turkish domestic rebar spot prices mostly trend up

Today, August 17, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have mostly risen by TRY 100/mt ($2-3/mt), compared to Monday, August 14, amid the ongoing currency fluctuations. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 18,900-19,000/mt or $581-584/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 27.10. 

Icdas A.S has kept its official rebar price at $590/mt ex-works today. Most mills in the Izmir and Marmara regions are offering official rebar prices at $590/mt ex-works, rising by $10/mt over the same period. 

One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its rebar price at TRY 18,700 mt ($575/mt) ex-works today. In addition, Bastug Metallurgy has closed its rebar sales today. "Some local traders are optimistic about the recent price hike in the import scrap segment and ongoing currency fluctuations. As a result, they are attempting to restock material," one source commented.
