Turkish domestic rebar spot prices follow diverse trends

Today, September 11, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have remained unchanged in the local currency in the Marmara region, while rebar spot prices have fallen by TRY 150/mt with minor changes on US dollar basis in the Iskenderun region amid the aggressive pricing policies of a few traders. In addition, rebar spot prices have risen by TRY 100/mt ($2-3/mt) in the Karabuk and Izmir regions. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 18,500-18,700/mt or $574-580/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 26.87.

Icdas has kept its official dollar-based rebar price stable at $590/mt ex-works today. Most mills in the Izmir and Marmara regions are offering official rebar prices at $580-590/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S.. Sources report additional discounts are applicable for serious buyers.

One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its rebar price at TRY 18,700/mt ($580/mt) ex-works, rising by TRY 250/mt ($7/mt) compared to the end of last week amid firm import scrap prices. Moreover, another Iskenderun-based mill is expected to complete its maintenance works within this month.

All prices are ex-warehouse and on actual weight basis. Prices on Turkish lira basis include 20 percent VAT, while prices on US dollar basis exclude VAT.
